Book Launch at a local Primary School
On 16 March 2026, Cedar visited Khomba Primary School for the launch of two children’s books written and illustrated by its student teachers. The group was warmly received by the school community with a gracious welcome from the principal, Mr Macie.
The book launch was arranged to engage learners with wholesome literature. In the Grade 3 classroom, Ms Swolfs presented A Fly’s Journey Home, a delightful story written by Fanny Swolfs. To ensure that every learner could fully enjoy and understand, Ms Ngcoya provided a lively isiZulu interpretation alongside the reading. Meanwhile, in the Grade 2 classroom, Ms Theron shared The Box, capturing the learners’ imagination, with Ms Memela translating.
Learners listened with great interest, responding eagerly throughout the storytelling sessions. Each class then took part in a follow-up activity inspired by the themes and events of the stories. Copies of the books were donated to the respective grades so that children , so that learners can revisit the stories for years to come. Mr Macie was also presented with copies of both titles on behalf of the school. The visit was a meaningful experience, fostering a love of reading while celebrating the creativity and dedication of the student teachers.
We hope to inspire a lasting appreciation for reading and wholesome literature, especially for early readers.
