Guest Speaker – Lectures on Health Promotion

Health Promotion is a core module required for all students enrolled in both the B.Ed Foundation Phase Teaching Programme and the B.Ed Senior and FET Teaching Programme.

The primary objective of this module is to equip students with the necessary skills to foster a healthy school environment and provide support to disadvantaged communities and families within the South African context. Educators gain insight into their pivotal role in health promotion within a community and are trained in effective strategies to engage and mobilize both the school and the broader community for improved health outcomes.

A key focus of the module is the establishment of vegetable gardens, following the principle of "One Home, One Garden." This initiative extends to informal settlements as well as schools and households with available land for cultivating family gardens.

To enrich this learning experience, we have invited Mrs Linda Nghatsane as a guest speaker to share her valuable insights and experiences from her work in Africa.
