Rocket Competition with learners from DSS
Cedar International Academy hosted an exciting Water Rocket Competition in partnership with Domino Servite School. The event brought together enthusiastic Grade 8 learners from DSS to compete in launching their hand-built water bottle rockets, while Grade 6 to 9 learners eagerly watched and cheered from the sidelines.
Participants engaged with core STEM concepts as they designed, constructed, and tested their water rockets. The project required learners to explore principles of aerodynamics as they refined their designs, experimented with different fin configurations and nose cone shapes and weights. Beyond the physics and mathematics involved, learners also enhanced their design thinking and gained valuable experience through practical application.
The weather was perfect for the occasion, and the atmosphere was electric as rockets soared down the airstrip. The winning rocket was a jaw dropper reaching an incredible distance of 169 metres.
Cedar International Academy sincerely thanks Domino Servite School for their cooperation and enthusiasm. The academy looks forward to more shared learning experiences and continued collaboration in the future, as we work together.
