Launching more Rockets
Under clear skies on the airstrip, Cedar International Academy hosted its 2026 Water Rocket Competition in partnership with Domino Servite School, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere for all involved.
A total of 44 teams from Grade 7 to 9 learners competed in pairs, launching rockets at a fixed 45-degree angle with 7 bar pressure. The top rocket travelled an impressive 167.8 meters, coming just short of the 169-meter record set the previous year.
In the weeks leading up to the event, learners took part in hands-on workshops where they designed and built their rockets. Creative concepts ranged from McDonald’s-themed designs to flag-inspired models, while also developing practical understanding of aerodynamics, precision, and problem-solving.
The day was enjoyed by both participants and spectators, with refreshments from DSS’s Coffee Company and a variety of baked goods and pancakes from Cedar adding to the experience.
Cedar International Academy extends its gratitude to Domino Servite School for their ongoing partnership and looks forward to growing this successful event in the years ahead.
